The Cleveland 2565TN parabolic flute design, long-length high-speed steel (HSS) drill bit has a 38-degree helix angle, with a 118-degree notched-point drill point and Titanium nitride (TiN) surface treatment, which is designed for high-performance drilling applications. It can drill up to 14 times the diameter of the drill deep. The round shank diameter is the same as the drill size with a tang, provides a means to securely hold the drill bit in the tool holder. The 2565 series performs best when drilling into low-carbon steel, soft alloy steel, non-ferrous materials, aluminum, copper alloys, and free-machining stainless steel. The general-purpose TiN coating combines stability at high temperatures with hardness for wear protection, increasing tool life and performance compared to uncoated drill bits. Spiral flutes act as a passageway for chip extraction from the hole and for coolant to enter the hole. The twist of the flutes brings chips up and away from the cutting edge. The parabolic design combined with the 38-degree helix angle increases the chip removal capacity over a non-parabolic design. The 118-degree notched-point drill point works well for hard and tough materials. The notched point can withstand higher thrust loads and has same benefits as a split-point design.
