Tropicanna cannas are gorgeously vibrant, easy-care live canna plants that add eye-popping tropical flair to any garden or patio. The plant can absolutely stand on its own as a foliage focal piece, yet it produces showy, long-lasting, soft orange flowers edged in yellow and with dark orange-speckled throats. You can even grow Tropicanna cannas in large containers indoors near brightly lit windows. Tropicanna cannas grow to form dense clumps from horizontal rhizomes. In a garden bed they'll reach 4 feet tall in the first year and up to 6 feet tall from then on. In a large container they’ll sit at around 4 feet. Plant in a sunny location with rich, well-draining soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged, and fertilize in spring with a slow-release fertilizer. In colder climates, Zones 3-6, the rhizomes can be dug up and stored indoors over the winter. In warmer zones, cut the foliage to soil level and leave in the ground or in pots.
