Xfinity's Storm-Ready Wi-Fi uses an optional battery backup to provide up to four hours of power during an outage, automatically switching to a backup 4G LTE cellular network when the primary internet goes down. The device acts as a Wi-Fi extender during normal use and provides cellular internet access with speeds up to 30 Mbps download and 7 Mbps upload when the backup is active.
Normal operation: The device functions as a Wi-Fi extender, boosting your existing Xfinity Wi-Fi signal.
During an outage: When your primary Xfinity gateway loses connection for about 30 seconds, the Storm-Ready device automatically switches to a backup 4G LTE cellular network.
During a power outage: The optional Battery Backup keeps the device running for up to four hours, ensuring it can still connect to the cellular network during a power outage
*Keep in mind this is brand new never used, open box due to opening in to realize it wasnt compatible with my internet plan but own outright and is brand new
